WHY THIS DESIGN?
150 years ago, Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, declared 2020, “The Year of the NURSE.” This momentous year has brought suffering to this most respected profession.
Nightingale stated, it would take 150 years (making the year 2020) for nursing to evolve as she envisioned it. For several years, the nursing profession has been preparing, with great anticipation, for "The Year of the NURSE". Ironically, The Year of the NURSE has challenged this noble profession in many of the same ways Nightingale was challenged. The trials of yesteryear and the trials of today, relate to disease prevention, self-protection of patient and nurse, sanitation, and lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) due to the increased demand Covid 19 has created. Nurses are self-sacrificing to make sure patients are cared for.
In 1870, Nightingale had the foresight to reach out to anyone and everyone capable of doing something to bring resolution to yesteryear’s “war." She used newspapers and magazines to reach individuals capable of bringing attention to the challenges. Today, I am reaching out through all forms of media who can influence outcomes by taking a small step to help those nurses on the front-line fighting this COVID 19 “WAR.”
I have been a nurse for 34 years. My passion is nursing. I believe Covid 19, the invisible enemy, will lose its stronghold. When the Covid 19 pandemic subsides, long-term burdening effects on our beloved nurses well-being, will remain.
NURSES NEED OUR SUPPORT NOW!!!
We are trying to be a small part of a SOLUTION for our nurse heroes and their families, who are giving everything as a result of their lived experience.
